Our Governance Model
The HARTbeat Health & Wellness Centre operates under a unique collaborative governance structure that emphasizes the importance of Indigenous leadership in decision-making. With Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre as a co-chair along with Monarch Recovery Services, our model ensures that Indigenous perspectives are central to our operations. This structure allows for a shared responsibility among core partners, including Health Sciences North, Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre, Monarch recovery Services, Canadian Mental Health Association – Sudbury/Manitoulin, City of Greater Sudbury, and others, each contributing their expertise to create a holistic and responsive care environment. Our governance approach not only aligns services with community needs but also fosters a culturally safe space for healing and recovery.

The Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre (SKHC) plays a pivotal role by integrating traditional healing practices with modern healthcare, ensuring culturally safe care for Indigenous clients. The Canadian Mental Health Association Sudbury/Manitoulin (CMHA-SM) provides essential mental health services, including counseling and housing support, while Monarch Recovery Services leads addiction recovery initiatives. The Centre de Santé Communautaire du Grand Sudbury ensures primary healthcare services are accessible, particularly for Francophone clients. The City of Greater Sudbury supports the Hub by coordinating housing and social services, linking the Hub to municipal initiatives.
